My Friends

Recently me and my friends were going to EKM from Pala on my car. I dont have to mention the condition of the roads here in Kerala. Its near to pathetic at some places. So while on the main road i took a short cut and we reached an narrow inclination. The road was so broken that it seemed only an off-roader could go through it.

I asked “Why the hell are our roads like these ? Where to the f**king road taxes we pay go to ? “. For that my friend Lijo answered. He said, “Hey this is not a broken road as you see. Its actually a part of a big project that our government is running”. We all wondered what he is talking about. Lijo continued,

“We all know that Kerala faced a severe water shortage few years back. After some studies its told that Kerala has very poor ground water reserve. Its happening so because the rain water flows to rivers and seas as soon as they fall. So these “guys” engineered a plan to collect the rain water. They told if we make pits on the surface of earth it will collect water and wont let it flow away, instead will seep into the crust, which will solve all the problems. And our government found another brilliant way to achieve this. Instead of making new pits they let the road suffer serious damage, this will collect the rain water and do the rest of the trick. In addition this method is cheap and practically doesn’t cost a “paisa” to the state.”

We all burst into laughs at his rubbish (by the way he did it knowingly) yet logic joke. Isnt it people ? This might be a possibility for the pathetic roads we have. Even if it isnt the reason, is it due to this we are now having plenty of water ? You decide whether it has any logic or not.

Disclaimer: Students please dont copy my style of studying as it may result in poor marks and beatings & scoldings from your parents hihi

Am very glad to tell all the people that am officially (not so officially) an “ingineer” (engineer) now. My father’s old student is working in MG university and i came to know my marks. I have an aggregate of 69% (well not bad for a guy like me). This article is dedicated to my friend Jerry Jacob, who took all the pain for teaching me.

My house is located very near to this MG university. But that doesnt have anything to do with my studies right ? “Basically am a lazy person” (original credits to vijayan mashu). I hate to study by sitting infront of books for long time. In my four years of engineering i have done only a handful of assignments myself that too in first year. Rest of’em are done in the old fashioned way-somebody (a girl) does it and rest is the job for a xerox machine :D – for the entire class.

Same is the case with exams. For sessional or internal exams i dont even study anything, but as far as university exams are concerned i start studying on the day before of exam. Funny thing is, throughout my engineering course, i had bought only a couple of texts, most of them in first year and for the rest three years-i only bought one book; microprocessor by Ayala in semester 5-not because i love the subject, but because i had to. So how did i study the rest subjects ? Well thats where my friend fits in.

His name is Jerry Jacob. He is a very nice guy and innocent fellow. Will do anything for his friends, I mean if i asked him to write my assignment he will do it (if i have a reason, hihi). We were friends from the 9th class and we used to visit each other often and when we finally came to the same class, we were together all the time.

It was the time of S3 university exam. I didnt know a thing and neither do i have any texts. I only have some vague notes and some un-useful library texts. So as Jerry’s house is near to me, i went to his house (ofcourse on the day before exam) and we had a combined study. After that exam, we did all exams like this.

In S4 i stopped taking library texts and have only notes. But so what, this system worked pretty well. He know the subject before hand and he will just spit it out. Since am a very good learner by listening (certified by Jerry) i would grasp everything in one go. This inspired my friend and my partner in Techseol, Lijo to name Jerry- The Living university.

In S5 i was thinking about studying in the new system. But to my surprise Jerry went to hostel as his house was getting renovated and i came to know about this pretty late, just a few days before the exam begins. Well those was the days i really struggled. I drove here and there to collect notes and texts, went to homes of friends to do combined studies which were very far and somehow i passed the exams except one. Yeah it was bit tough and i REALLY HATED the subject- check out the pic i uploaded in orkut right after the exam. Any way that exam was with me for the next couple of university exams, i got cleared only on my third attempt (one regular and two supplies).

In S6,S7 and S8 the usual system worked out for me. I just sit there and listen to what he says and then grasp the idea. In fact it was in the last sem i made the most effort. Me and Jerry went to Jino’s and Deepu’s house (our classmates) for a group study, since even Jerry was not aware of the subject much. Any way we all cleared the exams and thanks to Jerry am an “ingineer” now.

Jerry got selection in Tech Mahindra and Wipro through campus recruitments. Now he is at Chennai for training given by Tech Mahindra. Any where in the world, my dear friend BEST OF LUCK and GOOD LUCK. Only good thing will happen to him, not because i wished him luck or he is my friend, but he is pure at heart.
