Last week there was havoc in ITES Habitat Center. It was caused due to a (false) fire alarm triggered. Me along with my friends were sitting in our office and two of my friends, Jojo and John went out to have a coffee. After some time we heard a smoke alarm beeping. We thought it might be some error in the system, but then one after another smoke alarms tripped.

Security people where running all over and in 10 seconds we lost power. I went outside to investigate whats going on. When i reached the lobby what i saw was somewhat shocking.

Thick smoke was coming from the North wing and people where running outside. I rushed to my office and told people there, Lijo, Charles, Sajeesh to go outside, there is a fire outside. Within few seconds they cleared the office. Then i phoned Jojo and yelled on the loud speaker, “Come to office, there is a F.I.R.E. in our office”. He didn’t believed me at first, I had to tell couple of times to convince him.

We all cleared our offices and went outside. Just after 30 seconds (roughly after 5 minutes the beginning) a fire truck came to the scene.

After staying there for some time, we found out that it was a false fire trigger. All of us except me went to home, while i stayed in the office (devoted to work ). Then I had a chat with our security officer, and he said what caused all this. First we thought something (electrical) burned in the A/C room and smoke spread through the centralized A/C vent. But later it was found that some people (workers in the stadium) outside office burned some stuff and the smoke was sucked in by the A/C air intake system. They said it was due to a thrown away cigarette bud.

Again after further investigation, they found that these people outside burned waste thermocol and it produced the foul smelling smoke, which everybody misunderstood as a fire caused by electrical failure. Later when these people found the mess they had created, they poured water on the fire and then put a cigarette bud so that they can say it was an accident.

Since no damage was caused to anyone, none of the workers had any trouble.

On 26th November India has seen the worst terrorist attacks that ever occurred to her. Media refers to this as the 9/11 incident of India (American imitation even at the time of an attack !!!). Although i need not describe the incident, I will summarize for those who are new to this story.

Terrorists stormed into various places in Mumbai started open fire and blasting grenades. They split into smaller parties and hijacked Taj Mahal, Oberoi Trident and Nariman House. One party went to Mumbai CST Railway station and started an open fire. Many people died. Police stormed into these places and started counter measures. Many high officials including Hemant Karkare was killed, infact they were targetted. The terrorist who hijacked the hotels succeeded in terrorizing the whole nation for couple of days. NSGs (National Security Guard) were called to scene and they started cleaning the mess. I think 200+ black cats were called to the scene to neutralize just 10 terrorists. Any way after days of battle we won, just 1 or 2 of the terrorists were captured alive, the rest was killed. They managed to kill around 200 people which inlcude Indians, foreigners, police, high officials, commandos and even VIPs.

So thats the story, now lets see what happened. This is the most planned terrorist attack India has ever seen. Officials say there was months of planning behind this attack, and these guys came to Taj to study the grounds. They had even studied the roads, without which it wouldnt be easy for them to reach the CST railway station. It is believed that terrorists came to India using its vast sea shore of Maharashtra. They hijacked a fishing boat and killed the entire crew (in a brutal way) and fooled the coast guard, by making them think that they were Indian fishermen.

Whats so special with attack ? Usually terrorists targets crowded or strategically important places and maximum life loss. But in this case there strategy was a lot different. Their main target was foreigners and the Business capital of India, Mumbai. Till now there was no risk for the rich people. But now that situation has changed. Two kind of people used these hotels, foreign tourists and business men. After this, who will dare to come to Mumbai and stay in those posh hotels ? Nariman House is not a posh hotel, but it is the favorite stay for Israelis in Mumbai. So its clear that the terrorists targeted both business and tourism.

Now that its all over, whats even unfortunate is the damn politicians. They are planning how to exploit this incident to use it to their and their parties’ advantage. Its said that India was warned by US about this attack. If the officials had paid attention to this, and tightened the security, this could have been avoided. Any way I really hope they will take measures to avoid these kind of incidents in the future.

The effect of this attack has already started to show. Hotel bookings are canceled and people are afraid to go to common places like theaters to watch a movie. Stock exchanges are not so energetic. Foreign funds have been withdrawn. I have high hopes for out new Finance Minister, Manmohan Singh, who is a veteran in finance field, will save our economy.

There is a movie which comes to my mind, which in my opinion all of you guys should watch; “A Wednesday“. Its a must watch, because it is also based on a terrorist attack. The climax and its message is simply superb.

I would also like to notify my readers about an ATS helpline number -1090. In case you notice some suspicious, terrorist kind of activity, please dial this toll free number to note the proper authorities.

Please feel free to share your views to other readers through comments. As a starter i will comment in behalf of few others (this was a conversation done in my email inbox.). Others please catch up on the conversation.

First of all let me tell you one thing; am not a Mammootty fan. But like some of you guys I was a fan of Mohan Lal, but now I do not like him for the type of movie he deliver. I believe this is not just my opinion.

Recently there was an incident which further demolished the image of Mohan Lal. He was doing a stage show in Dubai, in which one of the audience tried to climb to the stage, most probably to dance for the song played, but then the unthinkable happens; Lal pushes him over the stage and down to earth !!!

If some of the hardcore Lal fans have a hard time believing this, then watch this video yourself.

That was just an appetizer, now see the full stuff (Full Video).

As you can see, Lal and Afsal was singing a song from the flick, Halo (no comments on that Lal movie!!!), but I have to admit, the song wasnt that bad. Any way as the song was advancing, one of the fan tried to climb to the stage. After watching the full video it seems pretty clear that “the fan” didnt had any wrong intention, but just to dance to the song; as we say in Malayalam “olam moopikan keriyatha”.

Mohan Lal could have just encouraged him and sing along, which would further entertain the crowd, but instead he pushed him off to “ground”.

Earlier there was an incident Mammootty hit one of the fans. Lal fans took this opportunity to defame Mammootty, but in the end the truth was he was continuously disturbing Mammootty and atlast out of frustration he hit him. But in this case its not just a beating, but Lal pushed a guy off stage to ground.

Mohan Lal is already infamous for appearing in the ad of a liquor company (“Vaikitentha parupadi ?”), and explicitly saying in interviews that he does not have the respect for women as a gentleman should have.

Whats done is done, I never expected such a rude behavior from Lal (note the rage in his attitude when he pushes the fan). Am pretty sure this would seriously affect his prestige and his “remaining” no. of fans.
