Recently me and my friends were going to EKM from Pala on my car. I dont have to mention the condition of the roads here in Kerala. Its near to pathetic at some places. So while on the main road i took a short cut and we reached an narrow inclination. The road was so broken that it seemed only an off-roader could go through it.

I asked “Why the hell are our roads like these ? Where to the f**king road taxes we pay go to ? “. For that my friend Lijo answered. He said, “Hey this is not a broken road as you see. Its actually a part of a big project that our government is running”. We all wondered what he is talking about. Lijo continued,

“We all know that Kerala faced a severe water shortage few years back. After some studies its told that Kerala has very poor ground water reserve. Its happening so because the rain water flows to rivers and seas as soon as they fall. So these “guys” engineered a plan to collect the rain water. They told if we make pits on the surface of earth it will collect water and wont let it flow away, instead will seep into the crust, which will solve all the problems. And our government found another brilliant way to achieve this. Instead of making new pits they let the road suffer serious damage, this will collect the rain water and do the rest of the trick. In addition this method is cheap and practically doesn’t cost a “paisa” to the state.”

We all burst into laughs at his rubbish (by the way he did it knowingly) yet logic joke. Isnt it people ? This might be a possibility for the pathetic roads we have. Even if it isnt the reason, is it due to this we are now having plenty of water ? You decide whether it has any logic or not.

The Venice of the East, a well suited name for a place like Alleppey. Today i had to go there for an “unconferece”- Blog Camp Kerala, the first ever of its kind in Kerala and that too in a house boat. I have been to Alleppey a million times, but i never enjoyed its beauty like today.

Me along with my friends (Jojo, John, Charles, Lijo, Praveen, Linjo, Alex and Jerome) went there by Charles’ and Alex’s car. First of all, i havent used that route for a while, most of the time i went to alleppey by boat. But i was surprised when i saw the road well surfaced and so we reached Alleppey within no time. Then we found our way to the boarding point, Punnamada Jetty. Punnamada is known for the boat races held yearly. Infact last one was just 1 or 2 week back. Did you know that kerala boat race is globally accepted the largest group sports event. Am not so sure but i guess a Chundan vallom will be holding any where between 100 -120 people in a single boat and all of’em row to move the boat. So it deserves the title of biggest sport event.

Our house boat came little late, but in that time my friends and I explored the beauty of Punnamada. After some time the boat came, and wow, its an air conditioned two storied boat. On the top story you have a conference hall and below that three bedrooms, kitchen and a small area like a lounge to relax. After an ice breaking session people began to talk about various subjects like, SEO, Typing Assistants and all. It was nice, i attended a few of’em. But i have already heard about most of them, so i decided to hang out with my friends.

Oh boy we had a really good time then. Lunch was hmmmm hmmm delicious with the delicacy of Alleppey; Karimeen Fry. Oh ya my mouth is still watering. So our boat went through a series of lakes and finally we reached where we began. We all said bye and started the return journey. That was also very nice with me, John and Jojo singing every song we knew.

That was pretty much the day. The trip really gave energy and freshness to our eyes with all those greeneries and water. These kind of trips are a must for all people to recharge their freshness.
